Method Feeder Mastery for June Tench
A key to success is preparing the groundbait so it holds together in the feeder during casting but breaks down steadily in the water.
Groundbait Mix
A groundbait mix is a blended bait anglers throw into the water to attract fish to a chosen spot. It combines ingredients like breadcrumbs, pellets, seeds, flours, and sometimes flavors or scents to create a food cloud and scent trail that draws fish in. The mix is designed to break down at different rates so some pieces hold together longer while others crumble, keeping fish interested over time. Texture and moisture are adjusted so the mix will hold when cast but release particles near the hook to encourage feeding. Picking the right ingredients and consistency helps target specific species and sizes of fish, because different fish prefer different textures and smells. Using a groundbait mix also helps mark productive feeding areas and concentrates fish around your swim or feeder. Applying the right amount and frequency matters: too much can fill or spook fish, too little won’t attract them. Learning to tweak recipes for water temperature, clarity, and local conditions makes the mix much more effective and can significantly increase catch rates.
